Second New CFTC Commissioner Sworn In

Dawn Stump has been sworn in to serve as a Commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Former CFTC Commissioner Jill Sommers administered the oath of office to Stump at the Fearless Girl Statue in New York City.
Stump is the second new commissioner to be sworn in after Dan Berkowitz’ ceremony last week.
“I am honoured to re-enter public service as a Commissioner and proud to join the CFTC in advancing a mission I have long supported,” says Stump.

CFTC Back to Full Strength After Senate Confirmations

The US Senate has confirmed the nominations of Dawn Stump and Dan Berkovitz as commissioners at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), bringing the agency to a full staff of five commissioners for the first time since 2014.

Stump, a Republican, was most recently president of consultancy Stump Strategic, prior to which she was a vice president at NYSE Euronext. Stump also previously served as the Futures Industry Association’s (FIA) executive director of the Americas Advisory Board, and held several staff positions in the Senate and House of Representatives.

Senate Confirms Giancarlo as CFTC Chair

The US Senate has confirmed Christopher Giancarlo as the permanent chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), while Rostin Behnam and Brian Quintenz have been confirmed as commissioners.

Dawn Stump has also been nominated as a CFTC commissioner, but is still awaiting Senate confirmation.

“Honored to be confirmed by @ussenate as Chairman of the @CFTC, along w/2 new Comn’rs Benham & Quintenz. Expect Dawn Stump confirmation soon,” said Giancarlo on Twitter immediately after the Senate decision.

Giancarlo was named as the acting chairman of the CFTC in January and was nominated to head the Commission on a permanent basis in March.
