Cürex Hires Cudahy

Kevin Cudahy joins Cürex Group in New York as a managing director, business development. He reports directly to Jamie Singleton, chairman and CEO.
A 25-year FX industry veteran, Cudahy was most recently head of FX sales, North America, at Bloomberg Tradebook, which shuttered its FX group in January. Cudahy joined Tradebook in mid-2013. Prior to that, Cudahy spent more than 10 years at BNP Paribas, where he worked on the FX sales desk. He also spent a period at CCM Securities.

And Another Thing…

At face value the impending closure of the Bloomberg Tradebook FX venue could be seen as evidence of the growing need for consolidation amongst FX trading venues, but while I tend to agree there is simply not enough sustained volume to go round for all those venues claiming to be institutional FX platforms, I think this closure more represents evidence of another trend.
Actually I use the word “trend” but in reality agency execution in FX has never really got off the ground.

Bloomberg Shutters Tradebook FX

Bloomberg Tradebook is exiting the FX business, winding down operations by March 1. Profit & Loss understands that New York-based Kevin Cudahy, head of FX sales, North America, and Paul Beatty, global manager, are no longer at Bloomberg Tradebook. A spokesperson declines to comment on personnel moves. Beatty had been with the company for nearly 17 years, while Cudahy joined Tradebook in mid-2013. Beatty’s Linkedin profile suggests he spent his career at Bloomberg Tradebook. Cudahy, meanwhile, spent more than 10 years at BNP Paribas, where he worked on the FX sales desk. He also spent a period at CCM Securities, a Bluefin company, as MD of FX sales and trading. Prior to these roles, Cudahy worked in sales at WestLB, but started his career in trading, working at Credit Suisse, RepNat and NatWest.

Tradebook Raises Over $1m at Annual Charity Day

Bloomberg Tradebook raised over $1 million at its fifth annual Charity Day on Thursday.
The Charity Day originated in 2012, with the New York office of Bloomberg Tradebook donating the net commissions from its equities business on that day to five different charities.
It has now evolved to include London, Hong Kong and – in partnership with BM&F Bovespa – Sao Paulo and will see the net commissions across all of the asset classes that Bloomberg Tradebook services donated to 20 different charities.

Citi Joins Tradebook FX as CCP

Tradebook FX (TBFX), Bloomberg’s FX ECN, has reached an agreement with Citi for the bank to serve as a central clearing counterparty (CCP) on the platform.

“We feel that the combination of Citi’s expertise in FX, and FXPB in particular, and market leading role in foreign exchange globally, coupled with the wide network of Bloomberg clients will be very synergistic,” says Tom Murphy, head of FX, futures and equity options sales at Bloomberg Tradebook. Citi will be the second CCP on TBFX
