Spark Systems Appoints Two Advisors

Spark Systems, the Singapore-based, MAS-backed Fintech FX startup, has welcomed industry veterans Paul Scott and Alain Kamagi to its advisory board, where they will serve as consultants in the development of the company’s foreign exchange trading platform.

Scott has over 30 years of investment banking and financial market experience, spending the last decade as global head of e-trading and spot foreign exchange for Commerzbank in Singapore. His experience spans the industry shifts, which saw an evolution in both skills and technology required to risk manage and execute FX – such as the successful integration of voice and e-trading foreign exchange businesses. With his nuanced understanding and expansive geographic exposure, the firm says Scott has forged close relationships with some of the largest foreign exchange market participants and has assisted with strategic partnerships and joint ventures.

“I am looking forward to engaging with the Spark Systems team and the wider community and hope to contribute to the board’s efforts on strategy building, decision-making and the continual development of the trading platform,” says Scott.

Kamagi, meanwhile is managing partner at UNTL, which was founded by professionals with over 35 years of combined foreign exchange and capital markets experience in major financial institutions.

Prior to co-founding UNTL, Kamagi was managing director at HSBC Bank USA, where he established and led a team that covered central banks, foreign pension funds, multinational corporations, hedge funds, proprietary desks and family offices. As MD, he also assembled and spearheaded a multi-product team responsible for cross selling FX and fixed income products to international institutional and family office clientele.

“I am excited to join the Spark Systems team as an advisor at this pivotal stage of the company’s rapid growth,” says Kamagi. “Joo Seng and his team have identified key aspects in the foreign exchange market that have yet to be addressed and I believe that the product that they are building will prove to be a game-changer for the industry.”

Spark Systems founder and CEO Wong Joo Seng, adds, “I am pleased to have both Paul and Alain join our advisory board at this time. Their combined wealth of experience in the financial services will be invaluable as Spark Systems’ continues in our efforts to build a global network of investors.”
