Rick Sears, who served as COO of the Macro group at Barclays Investment Bank in New York for the past nine years, left the bank at the beginning of June.
When Sears first joined the Macro group nine years ago, it has basically morphed into an FX and rates business. The FX business is managed from London by Fabio Madar, who joined in mid-2018 from Deutsche, as global head of FX trading and distribution, as well as Shahid Akram, COO for FX, who joined in May from Goldman Sachs and before that, was with Deutsche Bank. On the rates side, Andrew Batchelor serves as managing director, global macro trading business manager, also based in London.
Prior to Barclays, Sears served as president of FXMarketSpace, a start-up joint venture between CME and the former Thomson Reuters that sought to bring together OTC FX trading with a cleared credit model. Prior to that, he was MD and global head of FX at CME for nearly five years, and before that, spent more than eight years at Bank of America, last as global head of FX risk management.
