Reuters will host the 6th Financial Markets Charity Golf Tournament during May and June, to raise funds for projects supporting children in conflict zones. Rounds will be played in the Netherlands, Switzerland, UK, Spain, Germany, Belgium, France and Italy.
On 24 May, the UK’s financial market teams will play at Buckinghamshire, to benefit child victims of violence in Algeria.
Participating institutions can send a team of four golf players to the national one-day tournament and may qualify for the European finals in October at the K-Club, Ireland, host of the Ryder Cup 2005. Each institution’s contribution of $3000 or more goes entirely to the charity. Over the last five years, $2 million have been allocated to Terre des hommes (Tdh) projects helping children victims of conflicts. The proceeds of the first four tournaments enabled Tdh to run eight youth centres in Bosnia and Afghanistan; the funds collected in 1999 and in 2000 support two field programmes in Algeria.
The national tournaments will take place at the following venues:
1 May Utrechtse Golfclub (De Pan) The Netherlands
19 May Ascona Switzerland
24 May Buckinghamshire United Kingdom
30 May Club de Campo, Villa de Madrid Spain
7 June Golf- und Land-Club Kronberg Germany
15 June Bergamo Italy
21 June Royal Waterloo Belgium / Luxembourg
27 June Bouffémont France
The finals will take place from 25th to 28th October at the K Club, Ireland. The champions of the 1999 finals, Garban-Intercapital of France, represented by Marco Saviozzi, Stéphane Rio, Stéphane Legrand and Alexandre Artus, will be in Ireland to defend their title.
