Over 2 Million UK Households Face Bill Payment Struggles as Christmas Nears

Now, the UK is experiencing economic inflation and many households are struggling with paying energy bills. According to the list of latest reports, it is almost 2 million. The cost of living is very much higher and raising each day. Due to multiple reasons including the Ukraine and Russia war, and demand-pull, the United Kingdom is also facing energy and fuel issues. At the same time, it could increase between January and February. Statistics share that the most missed bill was the energy bill and which is 2.3%q, which is 1.9% of the Council tax and 1.6 percent of the bill, and also 1.4 percent of broadband or Wi-Fi bills respectively. Christmas is almost here, and a good percentage of housing payments and loans are also on the list.

According to the latest report, Which? warns of looming financial crunch for households as millions miss payments in December, the missing payments, even the credit card payments can be sorted out during the festive seasons like Christmas and new year. But now, the finance specialists are so worried about overcoming this winter by a good number of the population in the United Kingdom. The research by Which? shares of the graph says, in January it could grow up to 2.5 million from 1.9 million. And this Christmas would be the most struggling for the citizens in terms of cost of living and bill payments. Also, approximately 15.8 million people are ready to miss the wished items, pricy shopping, etc. for this winter. Moreover, most of them are ready to avoid essential items to purchase right this time.

There are more studies and campaigns running around the country for getting a complete map of the current situation. And discussing the solutions, the energy providers can give you emergency energy credits for this period and also, and the energy bill support scheme vouchers can also be a solution to a certain limit. Bank of England already coined the term “significant pressure” on each family even to pay for essential items. And the average mortgage payment is not touched up to 1000 pounds.  Also, the gas and energy bill is more than doubled from the previous data, i.e., 2500 pounds from 1200 pounds. Rocio Concha, director of policy and advocacy said, “With 1.9 million households missing important payments in the run-up to Christmas, we’re worried that many more people could be facing financial crisis in January – as the credit repayments pile up and the cost of living crisis continues to bite, and also added that, “As so many people face financial hardship, Which? is calling on businesses in essential sectors like food, energy, and broadband providers to do more to help customers get a good deal and avoid unnecessary or unfair costs and charges during this crisis.” 

Government should and trying to provide support for paying these energy bills as early as possible. And as per trustable resources, those who are struggling with energy payments must talk with those energy providers, and these providers need to be aware of giving popper solutions for getting enough funds. Meanwhile, the coming months are crucial for the economy and life of each citizen of the UK.
