New Chair for WMBAA
Chris Ferreri, managing director of hybrid trading at Icap, has been elected chair of the Wholesale Market Brokers’ Association Americas, an independent body representing interdealer brokers in the North American markets.
Ferreri succeeds Shawn Bernardo, a senior managing director at Tullett Prebon. The position of chairman is rotated every six months between the member firms. Christopher Giancarlo, executive vice president at GFI Group, has been appointed vice chair.
“I’m excited to become chair of the WMBAA at this critical time as we continue to be deeply involved with regulators on the pending SEF rule-makings, as well as continuing our work with Congress to improve the integrity of the markets while also preserving liquidity,” says Ferreri.
Deutsche Bank Promotes Chadha
Deutsche Bank has appointed Binky Chadha as chief global strategist, based in New York. He reports to David Folkerts-Landau, global head of research
Chadha will publish in-depth views on key issues across asset classes and regions and look at strategic and tactical opportunities. He was appointed chief US equity strategist at the bank in 2006 and before that was global head of FX research. Prior to Deutsche Bank, he held a variety of senior positions at the International Monetary Fund, including division chief for the euro area and for global markets.
MarketAxess Hires Hammond
MarketAxess, operator of an e-trading platform for fixed income securities, has appointed Robert Hammond as head of sales and dealer relationship management for Europe and Middle East. He reports to Paul Ellis, head of MarketAxess Europe.
Hammond joins from CME Group, where he was head of listed rates and OTC clearing solutions. Before this, he was head of fixed income and derivative sales and trading at Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi. He has also held senior roles in fixed income at West LB, Barclays Capital and JP Morgan.
National Futures Association Appoints Chairman
The board of directors of the National Futures Association has elected Christopher Hehmeyer, non-executive chairman at Penson GHCO, to serve a one-year term as chairman. The board also elected Paul Georgy, president of Allendale, to serve as vice chairman.
