Rupan Joins LMAX Exchange

LMAX Exchange Group has appointed Randy Rupan as head of liquidity analysis. Based in New York, Rupan will report into Jeremy Barnes, global head of liquidity management.He joins LMAX Exchange from 360T, where he worked as head of spot FX for the Americas since May 2018. Prior to that, he spent six years at FastMatch, where he was head of institutional liquidity management, and nine years at FXCM, where he was last a vice president doing business development for the firm.

BNY Mellon Strengthens Asia-Pac Business with De Vleeschauwer Hire

Profit & Loss understands that BNY Mellon has strengthened its Asia Pacific FX business with the hire of Charl de Vleeschauwer from Citi Sydney. De Vleeschauwer will be relocating to Singapore to take up a management position in the e-FX business of BNYM, sources familiar with the matter say, and will report to Darren Boulos, head of FX trading and sales for Asia-Pacific – Boulos himself joined BNYM in June 2017 from Deutsche Bank in Sydney. De Vleeschauwer has been with Citi for two years as a senior FX spot trader, having joined the bank after a spell with Macquarie Bank in London where he ran the bank’s FX trading business in Europe. Prior to that he worked for six years at Deutsche Bank in Sydney, having joined the organisation from First Rand in Johannesburg.

Knight to Depart Citi

Alex Knight is leaving his position as a director and global head of sales and client coverage for FX prime brokerage (FXPB) at Citi. Knight had been with Citi for 18 years, having previously worked for the bank in Sydney and Singapore, was most recently based in London. Prior to joining Citi, Knight worked as a sales director at SS&C Technologies.Although a spokesperson for Citi declines to comment on Knight’s departure, Profit & Loss understands that it is the result of a broader re-organisation within the bank, which has seen the sales team for its Prime, Futures and Securities Services (PFSS) business become more closely aligned with the Equity Markets business and its global products.

Cafe to Join BNY Mellon

BNY Mellon has hired Joseph Cafe as VP, e-FX sales, in New York.Profit & Loss understands that he will start his new role in May and will report into James Taylor, global head of e-FX sales, who is based in London.Cafe arrives at BNY Mellon from BNP Paribas, where he was a VP in the global markets business. Prior joining the French bank in 2015, he was a VP at Deutsche Bank for just under two years and spent four years as an FX sales manager at American Express.

Freeston, Flowerdew Set to Leave Currenex

Damian Freeston and Daniel Flowerdew are set to leave their roles at Currenex, which is owned by State Street.Both based in London, Freeston is currently a managing director and head of sales and relationship management in EMEA, and Flowerdew is a VP of sales and relationship management in EMEA for the platform.Profit & Loss understands that the pair are set to leave Currenex this month and will subsequently be launching a wealth management business in the UK. Freeston has worked at the platform for nine years, having initially joined State Street in 2010 as a sales and relationship manager for both Currenex and FX Connect. Prior to that, he held senior sales management roles at 360T and HiFX.

Brachet Leaves Citi?

Profit & Loss understands that Alexis Brachet has left Citi in New York where he was a managing director and head of emerging markets FX trading for Latin America. Brachet joined Citi subsidiary Banamex in 2008 in Mexico City before moving to New York in 2015, prior to Banamex he worked for BNP Paribas for six years and Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette Securities for three years in trading role. His destination is unknown and Citi did not comment by press time.

Alistair Baillie has joined R5FX as head of operations.Based in London, he joins the firm from MarketFactory, where he had been a director since 2016. Prior to that, he spent over a year as the global head of account management at Caplin Systems. Both of these roles were also based in London.Before this, he spent 14 years working in a variety of FX-focused consultancy and project manager roles at financial institutions and advisory organisations in Sydney.

Catalanello Tapped to Head B2C2 Americas

Rob Catalanello has joined B2C2 as CEO of the OTC cryptocurrency liquidity provider’s Americas business, a newly created position, based in New York. Immediately prior to joining B2C2, Catalanello was working as a consultant, advising financial institutions on the setup, structure and day-to-day operation of capital markets, e-commerce, FX, commodity, cryptocurrency, and blockchain businesses in the US.Catalanello spent nearly a decade at Credit Agricole, where he was managing director, head of fixed income markets sales, Americas. He also held FX sales roles at Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan, and spent a brief stint at Edgewater, which he joined in 2016.

Wise Exits Citi

Profit & Loss understands that Danny Wise has left Citi in London where he was a managing director and head of European G10 spot FX trading. Sources say that Wise was part of a round of cuts at the bank he joined in 2014 from Credit Suisse in London, where he was head of spot FX trading. Prior to Credit Suisse, Wise worked at Barclays in London for almost 10 years, most latterly as European head of spot trading, he joined the UK bank from Lehman Brothers.

Cobalt, which provides FX infrastructure based on shared ledger technology, has hired five senior staff in its London and New York offices.Bob Linton, based in New York, has been named head of connectivity and onboarding at Cobalt. He joins following a 13-year stint at market infrastructure technology provider, Traiana.Dan Evans has been appointed as product analytics lead, having previously spent seven years as a director of FX trading at UBS and also working as the director of his own consultancy.
