Jim Mitchell has become head of investment management, Europe, at Tremont Capital Management. A newly created position, he reports to Cynthia Nicoll, senior vice president, director of investment management, for the research and investment side of his role, and to Rupert Allan, managing director of Tremont’s London business, for investment relationship management activities.
Mitchell leads Tremont’s European research unit from London and oversees the investment process of selecting and monitoring managers, as well as managing portfolios for selected clients. He heads a three-person research unit as well as a relationship management unit. The firm says it is contemplating further analyst and relationship management hires.
He joined Tremont in April 2002, and was most recently vice president of investment relationship management, based in Rye, New York. Prior to this, he was vice president of investments at Hennessee Group, also in New York, where he had responsibilities in asset allocation, manager selection and in relationship management for high net-worth and institutional clients.
Mitchell has also been a vice president with Citibank Alternative Investments in New York, where he worked in product development, including structured products, and was also involved with portfolio risk management. He began his career at Bankers Trust, where he was a relationship manager for global custody clients.
