Mesirow Financial has added two to its staff roster in its currency management unit with the hires of Aaron Wham and Mike Emambakhsh
As a senior vice president, senior portfolio manager, Wham will help launch Mesirow’s new Seattle office where he will focus on implementing the team’s investment strategy and portfolio management functions. He joins from Russell Investments where he was a senior portfolio manager for eight years with specific responsibility for managing all currency strategies.
Emambakhsh joins the London-based team as a vice president, senior research scientist, with a primary focus on research and model development with an emphasis on machine learning. He was most recently at Cortexica Vision Systems, where he was a research scientist designing and implementing deep learning and Bayesian algorithms for video content analysis.
Both will also conduct bespoke research in support of Currency Management CEO Joseph Hoffman.
The firm says that the currency team’s assets under management have grown more than six-fold since 2010, “as institutional clients worldwide continue to seek to partner with an independent manager and a recognised specialist in currency management”.
“Aaron and Mike bring specific skills that will be instrumental in enhancing our ability to provide high quality currency management solutions,” says Hoffman.
