JP Morgan confirms seven hires in the UK, a number of which sources have suggested are part of a move to further strengthen its proprietary trading operations.
Clive Ponsonby, formerly of UBS Warburg, London and Manny Mifsud from Bear Stearns, London have joined to cover Usd/Jpy spot trading and FX prop trading respectively. Both report to Nick Munns, head of FX spot trading for Europe, and are vice presidents.
Seperately, Claudio Schiavoni joined from Banque Edouard Constant in April, and he has since been joined by Guenther Grimm and Valerie Rademacher both of whom come from Goldman Sachs in London. Kristian Sjoberg from Citigroup, London has also joined the group, which covers FX sales for Switzerland, Germany and Scandinavia and reports to Eric Robin, head of European FX sales and marketing for corporates.
“A number of people have recently been hired by JP Morgan due partly to the replacement of staff, but mostly to reflect JP Morgan’s expansion of footprint with European asset managers and corporates,” says Adam Burke, head of European FX.
The bank also confirms that Natalie Acevedo joins in the hedge fund sales team reporting to Richard Longmore, head of sales for global professionals in London. She joins from Bank of America, London where she was an FX sales person.
