Icap held its 24th annual global Charity Day today, with 100% of company revenues and commissions for the day being donated to a selection of over 200 charities around the world.
As part of today’s activities, Icap hosted several of the charities’ celebrity spokespeople at its offices around the world to rally employee enthusiasm and interact with clients to boost trading volumes.
In London, the celebrities that attended Charity Day included Their Royal Highnesses Prince Harry and The Countess of Wessex, who appeared in support of Sentebale, of which Prince Harry is a patron, and Shooting Star Chase, of which The Countess is a patron.
Meanwhile, at Icap’s North American headquarters in Jersey City, NJ, and Icap EBS BrokerTec office in Manhattan, more than a dozen celebrities were on hand, including: Peyton and Archie Manning (affiliated charity: PeyBack Foundation), Seth Rogen (affiliated charity: Alzheimer’s Association), Shaquille O’Neal (affiliated charity: Leadership Foundations) and Blake Lively (affiliated charity: Baby2Baby).
“Icap Charity Day is a huge part of Icap’s DNA. We founded Icap 30 years ago and shortly afterwards developed a unique format for charitable giving which has since turned into a truly global fundraising event, replicated by many others in the industry,” says Michael Spencer, group CEO of Icap.
He adds: “Now in its 24th year, Icap Charity Day will support a further 200 extraordinary charities this year, all of whom are in need of funds to develop vital, life-changing projects which will make a difference to thousands of lives. We are dedicated to raising as much as we can for our charities, and are extremely grateful to our employees, customers and suppliers for their ongoing and generous support. Together we will all give 100%.”
Overall, Icap was able to raise $10.3 million on the day, equivalent to approximately 4% of ICAP’s pre-tax trading profit reported for the year ended March 31, 2016.
Spencer declared himself “incredibly proud” of this final figure, which brings the total amount raised over 24 years to nearly $211million.
“I’d like to thank each and every one of our customers, employees, suppliers and our distinguished guests for their dedication and goodwill. Without them, this simply would not have been possible. The amount raised will make a tangible difference to hundreds of charities around the world and I look forward to continuing to raise funds for much need charitable causes with NEX Group,” he adds.
