An era came to an end last week as HSBC lost one of its longest serving foreign exchange managers with the departure of Alan Clarke, managing director and global head of e-commerce FX and MM.
Clarke, more widely known to his friends, colleagues and clients as “Shoulders”, left HSBC after more than 32 years at the bank – much of which was spent in senior FX sales roles and recently in the bank’s e-commerce group.
It is understood that Clarke is taking some time out of the market to spend with his family.
There is no word yet on his replacement at HSBC, which is quietly undergoing a change in management in its FX business. In early March, Andrew Brown, global head of FX, left his post at the bank (Squawkbox, March 3) and more recently Ashley Daffin left his role as head of e-commerce FX sales, EMEA (Squawkbox, March 30).
