Allan Guild has left HSBC after six years, most latterly he was global head of FX and commodities execution in the bank’s Global Banking and Markets Division.

During his time at HSBC, Guild was also COO of the FX options business, global head of the middle office as well as of HSBC’s FX and commodities regulatory change unit. He also co-ordinated the bank’s contribution the FX Global Code and participated in Bank of England working groups that helped develop the code.

Guild joined HSBC in 2014 from a nine-year spell at Goldman Sachs, most latterly as COO of the e-FX options business, having been named executive director in the FX options technology unit previously.

He has also served as chair of the Global FX Division’s steering committee and played a kay role in the establishment of LCH’s ForexClear.

Guild is leveraging his experience to establish Hilltop Walk Consulting, a firm dedicated to helping financial markets’ businesses deliver change, deploy technology, manage conduct-related conflicts of interest, and identify opportunities. “Markets businesses have been hit with change from automation and regulation at a tremendous pace over the past 15 years,” says Guild. “A pace which shows no sign of slowing down.

“I have been privileged to have been heavily involved in the resulting changes to electronic trading, conduct and market infrastructure and now hope to use that understanding and experience to help the clients of Hilltop Walk Consulting to achieve their goals.”
