Execution analytics firm FairXchange has made a statement with the hire of the head of Morgan Stanley’s client-facing quant team, Jian Chen, to be its head of data science.
At Morgan Stanley, Chen worked within the bank’s highly-regarded QSI team where he focused on developing data-driven trading analytics, including its real-time TCA offering QSI React. Prior to Morgan Stanley he worked at RBS as a quantitative researcher.
“We are delighted to welcome Jian to the team”, says Guy Hopkins, founder of FairXchange. “His experience, combined with his deep understanding of the issues market participants face in optimising their execution are invaluable as we take the next steps in innovation and bringing unique value to our clients”.
Chen adds, “Since joining FairXchange I have been impressed by the broad range of data that independent providers have access to by virtue of their business model. This enables us to understand market dynamics and interactions between different market players in a more comprehensive way, which will ultimately help us to fulfil our core goal of helping all participants transact in a way that is sustainable in the long term, both for themselves and their counterparties.”
