Micky Roberts has retired from Citi in London where he was on the hedge fund sales desk. His last day was Friday April 26.
Roberts started in the foreign exchange market in 1978 at voice broking firm MW Marshalls and rose through the ranks to run the USD/DEM desk which was, at the time, the biggest broking desk in the world.
As the voice broking business in spot FX declined, Roberts took a short career break before joining Citi in 2004 – a move one source describes an “inspired choice” by the bank given how many of Roberts’ former clients were now in the hedge fund world.
After 15 years at Citi the unflappable Roberts has decided to step down and spend more time on the golf course, bringing to an end the career of one of the biggest players in the FX business through the 1980s and 90s.
