UK-based currency manager ECU Group has hired Andrew Broadhurst as head of institutional currency management services.
Broadhurst joins from Overlay Asset Management Partners where he was a partner and head of global business development of the firm that provided exclusive services to Overlay Asset Management, a subsidiary of BNP Paribas Investment Partners. Prior to this he worked at JP Morgan Investment Management, managing overlay strategies for its multi-currency portfolio.
Broadhurst will work closely with Michael Petley, CIO of ECU Group, in particular on passive and active currency overlay strategies. He will represent ECU in its recently announced joint venture with SLJ Macro Partners, under which ECU and SLJ will develop global currency benchmarking products and execute customised currency overlay strategies for institutional clients.
Antony John, CEO of ECU, says, “Andrew’s arrival will enable us to broaden our existing currency asset and liability management offering and create a panoply of services oriented towards family offices, local authorities, institutions and corporates. Many such institutions have substantial un-hedged assets and liabilities in foreign currencies, giving rise to undesirable risk exposures which their stakeholders are increasingly requiring them to manage. ECU and SLJ aim to create a leading edge capability in this burgeoning and exciting arena.”
