CME’s Year-Old EuroFX Contract Sets New Records

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s EuroFX Currency futures contract set a new open interest record in December, and its busiest week of trading since it launched one year ago.

At the close of trading on 10 December, a total of 87,295 positions were open, reflecting an increase of 5,814 open contracts compared to the previous day’s level. The contract also set a new volume record during regular trading hours on 3 December, when 44,116 contracts changed hands.

The activity was more than double the trading level for any other single week in the product’s history.
