Cantor Confirms Ex-Goldman Duo to its FX Team

Cantor Fitzgerald has confirmed the appointments of former Goldman Sachs executives Joseph Pinto and Stephan McElreath to its FX team, as first reported by Profit & Loss in May (Squawkbox, 4 May).

Based in New York, Pinto will be a managing director and McElreath a vice president of Cantor Fitzgerald’s FX sales and trading group. They will be responsible for building out Cantor’s global FX trading business and increasing the firm’s market making capabilities.

They will both report into James Reilly, senior managing director and global head of foreign exchange sales and trading, who joined Cantor in May after a brief stint at State Street Global Exchange.

“We welcome the breadth of expertise and well-established relationships these highly respected individuals bring to the Cantor team,” says Shawn Matthews, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald. “Their appointments reinforce our longstanding commitment to providing clients with unparalleled industry knowledge and excellence in execution.”

Reilly adds, “Joe and Stephan's extensive experience in FX strategy and execution will play a significant role in driving our business expansion and developing a deeper client footprint. We look forward to leveraging their knowledge and innovative ideas to advance our FX growth plans.”

Pinto most recently served as head of Americas electronic FX Sales at Goldman Sachs for almost four years. Prior to that he held roles in electronic FX for Bank of America and Barclays Capital.

Before joining Cantor, McElreath was vice president of FX sales at Goldman Sachs where he had worked since 2008.
