Barclays has appointed Filippo Zorzoli as head of macro distribution for EMEA and Asia Pacific.
In addition, Filippo will also be head of solutions sales globally. He starts at Barclays in September 2017 and will be based in London.
Barclays’ macro business is part of its investment bank, helping both institutional and corporate clients trade FX and interest rate products.
The macro team works in close partnership with Barclays’ research team, which publishes daily insight for clients on global macroeconomic and political issues.
Zorzoli and Anil Atluri, head of macro distribution for the Americas, will partner to co-run Barclays’ macro distribution business globally.
Zorzoli has more than 16 years of markets experience, starting his career in 2001 at Goldman Sachs in fixed income structuring before jointly leading the equity exotics trading desk.
In 2011, he joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch to run rates structuring. He went on to become head of structuring for EMEA, assuming responsibility for FX, credit, emerging markets and equity derivatives.
For the past three years, he has been head of rates sales for EMEA, leading a large team of interest rate and repo salespeople.
Tim Throsby, CEO of Barclays, comments: “We’re excited to bring Filippo on board, with his breadth of experience, client relationships, as well as his structuring expertise. This appointment underlines our reinvestment in our macro franchise, as well as Barclays International overall, which is increasingly called upon by our clients to help them navigate the financial markets in the face of ongoing uncertainty.”
