Despina Pantopoulou has joined Barclays Capital as a director and global head of FX options. She will report to Ivan Ritossa, managing director and global head of FX. Based in London, she will be responsible for continuing the development of Barclays’ options capability.
Pantopoulou joins the bank from Merrill Lynch in London, where she was global head of currency option trading, prior to which she was co-global head of currency option trading at NatWest.
The bank says she will concentrate on shorter term market movements, developing new tools and indicators for customer risk management.
Separately, John Caccavale has also joined the bank, officials confirm. He joins from Lehman Brothers, where he was FX trading manager. Based in New York, he will be managing director and head of FX trading, with responsibility for North America, and also report to Ritossa, with whom he used to work at Lehman Brothers.
Meanwhile, Kirby Hoeft has reportedly left AIG, Greenwich to join Eric Price at Barclays in New York, sources say. He will be covering institutional sales. The bank was unable to confirm this move by time of going to press.
