Barclays Capital has hired Areski Iberrakene from Bankers Trust as director and global head of FX options, and a member of the FX management team. Iberrakene, who joins the bank at the beginning of August, reports to Paul Thrush, global head of FX.
Iberrakene will oversee the global business, which consists of vanilla and exotic options (up to two years), as well as coordinate new product development. His focus will be on the euro, yen, sterling, Swiss fran and the emerging markets of Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa and Latin America.
“The appointment is a critical position within our global foreign exchange management team and will enable us to refocus our effort on building a first class structured product capacity to complement our risk management business,” says Thrush.
Prior to joining Bankers in 1997, Iberrakene was an FX options trader with Commerzbank in London and before that, held a similar position at Société Générale.
