Meanwhile, Bear Stearns International has appointed three senior salespeople to its credit sales team in Europe. Jeffrey Wilner, Shawn Wexler and Joo Pinho will be based in London and report to David Austen and Morad Mahlouji, co-heads of fixed income sales in Europe.


“We are committed to expanding the breadth of our fixed income sales coverage,” says John Moore, co-head of fixed income in Europe, “Not only are we building upon our core franchise but we are also working on developing our presence in markets such as Portugal. Jeff, Shawn and Joao’s expertise will help to broaden and strengthen our coverage as we continue to meet the needs of our expanding European client base.”


Wilner joins from UBS in Stanford, Connecticut, where he covered hedge funds and asset managers focusing on credit products including credit derivatives, investment grade and high yield bonds, and CDOs. Wilner has over ten years’ experience in credit and credit derivative sales, including two years at Bear Stearns in New York where he focused on building a dedicated credit derivative customer franchise.


Wexler will be focused on banks and hedge funds. He was previously at Citigroup in London where he worked for three years in credit sales. Prior to this, he spent five years in debt capital markets at Tokyo-Mitsubishi International (now Mitsubishi UFJ Securities).

Pinho also joins from Citi, where he covered Portugese financial institutions within structured product sales for the last seven years. He has moved from Lisbon to London and will continue to focus on Portuguese clients. His previous experience includes three years as deputy head of Banco Mello Investimentos, focusing on debt origination.
