Merrill Hires Izhaky From Goldman for Options

Mike Izhaky, formerly a currency options trader at Goldman Sachs in New York, has joined Merrill Lynch as a vice president and senior trader in the global FX options group. He will trade the euro/dollar book and will report to London-based director of global FX options, John Langley.

Bank of America Appoints New Spot Chief In London

Darren Barker has been promoted to be Bank of America’s new spot chief in London, following the departure of Pierce Acheson to WestLB in Singapore earlier this year. Barker was previously trading spot euro for BofA, and reports to Conor Dufficy, FX trading manager in London.

NatWest GFM Takes Bhagavatula from Citi

Ram Bhagavatula has joined NatWest Global Financial Markets (GFM) as chief economist in New York, an official confirms. The bank now has 10-11 economists on its global GFM team. Bhagavatula previously held a similar position at Citibank.

HSBC Appoints Cheung As FX Manager in Hong Kong

HSBC’s Hong Kong-based FX manager Michael Hillier has given up the management part of his role to concentrate on proprietary trading, confirms Mike Powell, HSBC’s deputy treasurer. Robin Cheung, previously Hillier’s number two, assumed the management responsibilities on October 1. No other changes are reported.

StanChart Hires Two Dealers in London
